This year saw the first official wheelchair race. I watched them wheel
up to their start which was staged a half hour or so before the runner’s
start.
The organizers trumpet that the staging area features the world’s
longest urinal. There is a constant flow speeding into a holding tank
that is subsequently pumped into a tanker truck standing by. Should have
got a picture of that.
“Water, Agua,” she called, making sure runners got their water.
I found Fernando and Sean.

When it was time a group of us went to the Green Start area. Some of the
guys got up on a concrete divider at the edge.
