A final look at the Victorian Inn and we headed out of town.
Here's the crucial turn onto Mattole Road—the road
we will follow for the remainder of the ride. It will take us
to the coastline via Capetown and Petrolia.
The road immediately starts climbing and we stopped to
shed some clothes and get the damn lamps off our helmets.
The climb goes on for many miles. Nothing steep here.
It just keeps going on up.
The road was quite beautiful as it sinuously made its way along the ridge.
The day had really blossomed. Sunlight stabbed through the trees.
As we neared the coastline, the forest disappeared and
finally we had a view of the Pacific Ocean.
