I rode the subway and sipped from a bottle of water. Got off at the bottom
of Manhattan.
Took the Staten Island ferry along with a horde of other runners. The
Statue of Liberty is there in the distance.
At the other side buses waited to take us directly to the staging area.
I’ve found the subway/ferry/bus way of getting to the start the best.
You get off the bus and then walk a mile or so to get to the staging area
which is Fort Wadsworth, at the Staten Island end of the Verrazano Bridge.
Most runners have been in the staging area for hours having arrived via
the official buses rather early. It is cold. Staying comfortable can be
an ordeal.
