Séez to Aussois

59 mi (94 km), 8,000 ft vertical (2,450 m)

Pieter Maessen finishes his coffee over the carnage the others have left behind at breakfast. Pieter, nursing an injury, opted not to ride and to drive the van for one day.

Fog wafts through the village of Séez.

Since Pieter drove the van, Peter Ancher, who normally drove it, got to ride with the group. Here he leads the group.

The route climbs up a long valley heading up to the ski town of Val d’Isère and ultimately the Col de l’Iseran (9,088 ft / 2,770 m).

The fog lifts as the morning wears on .

Loveliness abounds.

Great views across the gorge.

Clouds plow into mountain tops.

The dam of Lake Chevril.

On the center of the face of the dam a strange device—a stain? Very curious.

Across the lake in the distance the Tignes ski resort can be seen.

Nearing Val d’Isère, the route darts through a number of tunnels.
